Comment: This picture taken just behind the camp shows the large number of Bedouin workmen involved in the exploration, and also the team leaders. The archaeologists are aligned at the back. On the far left is Josef Milik, then William Reed, Henri de Contenson and Dominique Barthélemy (bearded).

Second row from back, standing, from left, the following men can be identified: 1, 2, Hassan ‘, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13

Sitting back row: 1, 2, Mahmud Hussein

Sitting at the front are: 1, 2, 3, Abdullah, 5, 6, Asa, Mohamet ‘Adhib.

The camp was set up at the foot of the hills under Cave 2Q (=GQ19) and indicated with the number 16 in the expedition map. Behind is Cave GQ17.
