Comment: This photograph shows the area of Cave 3Q (G8=GQ8) at the time of its discovery. G refers to Team G, headed by Contenson, and 8 is their sequence of numeration in regard to cave exploration. The other designation, A8, relates to cave GQ3 in terms of the final expedition designations. Caves GQ4-11, Gr A and GrB all lie in this northern cluster and, while many caves can be seen in the photograph, which cave is which is by no means easy to determine. Cave 3Q (G8/GQ8), however, is about 2/5 from the top in the middle left of the frame.  The area of excavated soil forms a whitish area in front of the cave entrance, which faces due east towards the camera.
