Comment: This is a much clearer image of the area in front of Cave 3Q (G8=GQ8). The picture shows Contenson (in shorts) with three Bedouin workers, one of whom is Asa (far right).  Note that they are not standing in front of Cave 3Q itself but to the north of it. The cave entrance lies to the far left, where the baskets and tools can be seen along with a pile of soil excavated from the cave. One cannot see the entrance straight on.

This picture was published in DJD III, Pl.III:1, and labelled ‘Site de la grotte 8 = 3Q’ and in Humbert and Chambon (1994: 205, Fig. 423), where it is labelled ‘Site de la grotte 3Q’. It is important though to note that the caves seen behind the figures in the picture are not Cave 3Q, which is somewhat hidden on the left side.
